Thanks, Greg … for your most astute comments!

I do know the ‘Stans indeed … but I am hardly surprised they know our politics better than most Americans, 54% of whom read below a 6th grade level !!

In October 2016, I made a swing through the three Baltic countries… everyone there understood Trump better than most Americans, who voted for Trump, which the Baltics never understood then, but fear desperately now !!

thank YOU, Professor ... sadly, space is so limited to plumb the depths of Netanyahu's 'strategy' for Gaza ...tho could well be summarized by one word: hubris.

When you say "the world is beginning to understand," that is an understatement even in four nations I just visited earlier this month: the "Stans"-- Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. People there knew more about the trial, let alone the general trials and tribulations of American politics, than many Americans. And with an interesting twist: as former republics in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, their media bubble primarily comes from Russia, so their take (although I generalize) is largely sympathetic to Trump. One man said to me-- shades of Russian media ringing in my ears-- "So yes, Trump makes mistakes, Biden makes more."

Hi David Thanks for your many recommendations to follow my Substack. I need some help with the site itself and wanted to ask who you can recommend?

Warm wishes and stay well, Elizabeth

Terrific summary, David... and terrifying. The Spiegel cover is brilliant... something the Germans can understand better than any of us.

Incidentally, a small typo up near top: I think you wanted to write La Matinale Européenne.
