Oh my, Walter ….you have so eloquently gotten to the core of the entire farm fadoodle … but i strongly suspect that if Macron & his government throw them a few bones, then wait patiently til the farmers tire themselves out …. The French find long protests titesome & especially tiring! Witness les gilets jaunes!!

Re the farmers, I suspect some economists have estimated where the heaviest burdens from Euro green policies are falling among various sectors and cohorts. Would be instructive to know!

Are people here in the US and around the world taking democracy for granted? Or are we ignoring history or don’t want to remember?

Sadly, I fear we are taking it for granted. Too few Americans have ever been forced to live or work under an autocracy where the freedoms we take so for granted are punishable by prison even death. That is the direction where I fear we are headed this November. Wake up, look around you...read Andelman Unleashed where I chronicle every week so much of this, but may be forced to change....our new name? How does Andelman Enchained sound?

Please. I already feel somehow muzzled to avoid a bad reaction when I express my sentiment with regards to politics. Andelman Unleashed sounds great

Great summary, as usual.

In the time I lived in France, I can't recall a single year of contented cows, on any French farm. Farm subsidy protests are like cold sores in France, they just appear. Milk deemed under-supported, or under-permitted at a local cheese maker, were spilled in front of Matignon, if protesters got that far. Many turnips and much cow dung went to the flower beds. In many countries, though, current marches aim at a low-hanging non-agricultural fruit: the Green Policy -- which is a rotten political apple not a natural one.
