Oh THANK YOU, Donna !

What a catastrophe, the Seine! But a lot of that was our mayor, Hidalgo, and frankly her ego!

Still time (past time?!) to LET GO !

btw, DO watch the Netflix movie, Under the Seine … and their sendup of the mayor !!!

Wow...lots to digest here, Elizabeth .... with thanks. I'd just point out that Macron takes a very very long view of history & politics...and I'd encourage everyone to read my CNN column: https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/12/opinions/france-macron-snap-election-far-right-andelman/index.html

Oh Keith, you are so precisely & chillingly right. The Axis of Autochracy does indeed rule nearly half the world with so many powerless to stop it

… unlike the US where we still could (at the ballot box!)

sometimes i just love your turn of phrase: 'colonial-chauvinist baboon re-born' ..... we were at his first announcement for president 7 years ago ... omg, it still rings in my ears !

Again, another eyepopping survey, thanks David.

The irony in Macron is that his party's emergence dissolved the traditional left-right dichotomy for NATIONAL ELECTIONS (the Front électoral) that actually kept the country a republic for so long. He was progressive but pragmatic, strident on immigration but careful to call out the nativists, etc. But pragmatism on the issue of the mass emigrant crisis (it should NOT be called 'immigration') still involved draconian measures. The 'yellow vests' were a legit reaction to silly gasoline prices in the provinces, but within 3 weeks, they'd been recruited into shock troops for the far-right. That didn't prevent left-center journalists on French TV from siding with the Yellow Vests a full year later, as if any social protest is by definition progressive. Because, organized against a sort of French neo-con. Sound familiar? It's everywhere. Well, the same TV journalists had a counter-shock in the last national election, when producers invited Éric Zemmour onto their panels week after week. Zemmour the colonial-chauvinist baboon re-born. Alas, I fear for my France, our France.

Great update on the political situation in France. Merci aussi de m’avoir présenté La Matinale Européenne. But most of all, I'm grateful to finally hear someone else say what I've been feeling all along: "I wouldn't swim in the Seine at gunpoint!" What are they thinking? Risking our finest athletes and the mayor herself!? A month away, they can't even test the waters. Give it up. Please!

Americans need to pay attention to two recent facts concerning the French government. Number one of course is that Marie LePen is in bed with Putin just like Trump. "Dec 27, 2018 — A 9.4 million-euro loan from a now-defunct bank pulled the French far right into Russia's shadowy finance world." (The Washington Post) As I have mentioned many times before, Russian banks are all under the management of the Russian KGB/FSB. They loan funds to a foreigner for two reasons: to laundry black cash into another country's economy, or they are bribing a foreigner to work for Russia. Both Eric and Don Jr. have imbecilically bragged about the Trump Organization receiving $100 Million from Russia. (www.businessinsider.com) and (www.vanityfair.com).

Number two is that while Macron appears to be "sang froid" on the outside, he did, in fact, "activer" this entire current political "bataille." It is hard to imagine the turmoil in the French National Assembly which he just recently dissolved,, but unfortunately the French tabloids are also relying on polling to inform the public and the world regarding the French left majority.

Microsoft has proved that about 60% of cyber attacks into the U.S. come from Russia. This includes a long-list of economic sectors such as: food and supplies, health providers and hospitals, cell phones, gas and oil, military data bases, banks and finances, AND election interference and polls. Axios reported on April 17th, 2024 that "hackers were behind water cyber attacks in the U.S., France, Poland, and Germany. "French state hit by cyberattacks of 'unprecedented intensity'. Several government departments have been the target of Russian hacks such as the prime minister's office." (Reuters)

In 1997, a 600+page book called The Foundations of Geopolitics was published in Russia. This book, much like Hitler's Mein Kampf - a 720 page book, is a manifesto of presidential philosophy and goals. In the U.S., Trump has now published the Project 2025 Comprehensive Policy Guide with over 900 pages. We all know that Trump did not write this book, since he can hardly write his own name, but it too is a reflection of a far right ideology Marie LePen's book is called Inside the Mind of Marine LePen. It is advertised as a "probing investigation into the philosophy of LePen." (Hurst Publishers)

The point is - both Donald Trump and Marie LePen are bribed and controlled by Vladimir Putin who told the entire world in 1997 in The Foundations of Geopolitics that he would internally destroy both the United States and the French democracies. This book was published 27 years ago, and the goals he outlined in his book are now nearly accomplished. On July 18, 1925 Adolf Hitler published Mein Kamf. World War II began on September 1, 1939 and ended on September 2, 1945. Compare the timelines, and you will see that Putin's plan to subvert the French Assembly and control the U.S. Congress are nearly fulfilled.

Putin's worldwide clandestine and covert plan will be 'complere" without either country firing a single shot.

Why would anyone choose to dive into the Seine? And how can France hold elections and Olympics almost simultaneously?

Thank you David for keeping us all informed of what is happening in our ever changing world. When will the dictatorships of this world learn that people just want to be free to live their lives without fear? It is incomprehensible to me that so many people of this world are still living in tyranny!
