You are so right, professor ... BUT the Jews are establishing unstable lines of authority (aka red lines) across Gaza and the West Bank that in the long run (and even short or medium terms for that matter) are in my view utterly untenable and indefensible.

I think it points to permanent military occupation. By Israel, of course, how else are they going to justify the horror of the Gaza campaign.

This would in essence be a miniature South Vietnam. I cringe when Blinken uses Israeli talking points (although I realize he has to, to mollify the listeners); for example, describing Oct 7 as 'the worst attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust.' hello? The State of Israel is not synonymous with The Jewish People (no matter that they've claimed that, for 75 years) and the reference to the Holocaust is a journalistic, but scandalous conflation.

Israel is asking for even more dangerous trouble if it can't immediately find a way to establish order in the conquered or "liberated" parts of northern Gaza that are now anarchic.
