You are absolutely correct, Mira ... except, when I asked my editors at CNN in London to which I should subscribe, they suggested The Times ! I used the Telegraph to show the contrast !!
;-)
But I do often use The Guardian and The FT for their superb reportage in so many parts of the world!
David, thanks so much for the time-warp speed of this coverage, it's amazing. To any critics of showing the Adelman-Murdochian media abroad, it's a reporter's mandate to show the ugly stuff.
I'm too close to America not to live in horror of the Drumpfkin. Currently, he's using Hannibal (the Cannibal) Lecter as an avatar for himself (over and over and over). The first scripted 20 min. of his 'acceptance' speech was a travesty that Hitler would have cringed at. The free world is Denmark & Norway around 1940.
footnote: Good lord I just saw a headline. Netanyahu is not only heading to the US, presumably to do the Orban Obeisance at Mar-a-Lago, but to speak to the House, presumably invited by the Maga. An intervention in the election campaign?
A footnote.. info re Biden. Rachel Maddow, a Rhodes Scholar, has a show on MSNBC TV. She's very popular with the liberals. She also has heavy hitters as guests. Rachel herself, was excited about Kamala. Senator Eilzabeth Warren, Democrat showed up to praise Kamala. quote from https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/jul/22/biden-election-campaign-democrats
Many Americans are feeling relieved. And many of believe that Kamala has a good chance to win the elections. She was an Attorney General in California for several years before being in D.C. We see her as very smart, strong and obviously an extreme contrast to Trump, who is a nightmare. And Hillbilly Elegy Vance is just as bad, in his own way. Once Biden stepped down there was an enormous wave of relief. I'm sure you know that Attorney Generals tend to be very touch. And most of us believe that Biden was very positive influence on Kamala. She's more confident with a relaxed but strong demeanor. I don't know what the press is currently like France, but it tends to problematic here. A behavior that began with America's first major publisher, Wm. Randolph Hearst who told his people, if it bleeds, it ledes. Ergo, sensationalism. The press isn't being kind to Vance. Kindness is not something he deserves. Nor does Trump. Biden mentored Kamala. She changed for the better during her time with him. The night she accepted to run, a number of respected individuals spoke on television saying they believe in her and were supporting. Elizabeth Warren was one. Personally, I believe the Dems, along with many others, are exhausted with Trump antics. Once she accepted and gave a speech, a number of political power brokers appeared. They spoke about her with enthusiasm. She is receiving a lot of support. From the public and the Pols.
So very true !
Expanding my view too to the Baltics & beyond!!!
Stand by !!

The Guardian is used by many people I know who were in high positions in the government and continue to be influencers. And the FT.
My go-to British dailies are The Guardian and the Financial Times. Very different headlines and views from the two right-wing papers you feature.
