Andelman Unleashed: We're growing...& outrage in Venezuela!
Exciting new offerings going forward....for a pittance....BUT FIRST, Venezuela!
Elections 2024: Venezuela
In an appallingly blatant power play, Venezuelan strongman Nicolás Maduro declared himself the victor in national elections with his united opposition expressing outrage and independent polling suggesting a sweep by his leading opponent.
An early exit poll from Edison Research, known for its similar work in U.S. elections, predicted, as voting ended, that Edmundo González would sweep 65% of the vote, while Maduro would win 31%.
The official results from the National Election Council showed the reverse—Maduro winning 51.2% to 44.2%. But as the homepage of El Elspectador suggested in neighboring Colombia, where some 2.8 million Venezuelans have taken refuge from Chavismo socialism that has driven the country to the brink of collapse, the world is deeply skeptical. “Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica and the United States are some of the governments that have already spoken out about the results in Venezuela” the paper reported before dawn in Bogotá.
In Tokyo, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told reporters: “The United States has serious concerns that the result announced does not reflect the will or the votes of the Venezuelan people.” This could lead to a re-imposition of crippling sanctions that the Biden administration had suspended in hopes of an honest tally.
Some opposition leaders say they will contest the results in the streets.

When President Emmanuel Macron bestowed on me the rank of chevalier in the Légion d'Honneur, France's highest civilian decoration....
....Laeticia de Cayeux was generous enough to describe me in these words:
By the time I first came to know David some twenty years ago, David was already among a very small group of widely recognized scholars on French-American relations. He had co-authored a book with a long-time head of French intelligence. One of his students briefly at Science Po, was even Francois Delattre, the youngest French ambassador appointed to the United States.....When he arrived in Paris as CBS News correspondent just as François Mitterrand was arriving for his first term as president, he was amply prepared to translate French society into terms an American audience could embrace. These were complex times. Bombs were exploding across Paris, there were conflicts in the last parts of French-speaking Africa and the Middle East. And when Mitterrand named four French communist party members to his cabinet, panicking President Ronald Reagan who sent his vice president George H. W. Bush racing to Paris to make sure France wasn't shipping NATO secrets to Moscow, David was in the Elysée courtyard to report Mitterrand's assurances…hold your friends close and your enemies closer.

Meanwhile!
Chronicling how we have arrived here is the heart of my latest book:
A Red Line in the Sand: Diplomacy, Strategy, and the History of Wars That Still Might Happen … Published by Pegasus, distributed by Simon & Schuster. An Arabic language is coming before the end of this year. [ اللغة العربية قادمة قبل نهاية هذا العام ]
And The Reviews !
Sunday Morning, p.1 of the first Washington Post Book World of 2021
“A book with broad ambitions, [and] a thorough primer on conflict or potential conflict zones around the globe, from North Korea to Iran to the eastern provinces of Congo. Along the way, Andelman weaves into the narrative several episodes from his remarkable journalistic career. A commendable work."
NBC's Tom Brokaw observed:
“As we are learning every day, the world is an ever more dangerous place, on a hair trigger from East to West, North to South. David Andelman, one of our most experienced national security journalists, gives us a timely, insightful analysis of the dangers and prospective solutions in this very welcome book.
TUTTI QUANTI
Meanwhile, I will continue to write regularly for MSNBC from Paris, New York and a host of other places across the globe...exploring many of the critical issues of our times.
And on occasion I appear on television broadcasts as well.
Finally, for those who haven't followed me diligently on Facebook or LinkedIn, here's your chance!
Best regards,
David
The real numbers of actual votes cast are truly appallingly divergent from the state’s #s … it is hard to see how he could ever live these down … but then, Trump does believe he won in 2020!!
Wow.....fair and square ..... NICE ..... Thank you for opening my eyes.
Where did you get the fair & square part from ??
Donald Trump is a BIG fan of Maduro too....so perhaps I should reconsider. After all, we'd so very much want like-minded autocrats in charge come January in North & South America!
