Unleashed Sports + Unleashed Conversation #2
The Games of the XXXIII Olympiad draw to a spectacular close in Paris, across France, even to Tahiti. And we prepare to convene our 2nd weekly Unleashed Conversation, a preview of The World This Week
Sunday night, the Paris Olympics 2024 draws to a close, though two weeks hence, the Paralympics picks up the slack.
As of today (Thursday) the official medal count showed the U.S. well in the lead, with France in bronze position in terms of total medals:
And then there’s the Olympic flame ….
…..and the immense balloon that holds it steady on the eastern fringes of the Tuileries Gardens in Paris. Pamela Title, wife and editor of Andelman Unleashed volunteered to hold it aloft after winning a lottery allowing us to get up close and very personal.
For a whole lot more on the Olympics and any number of other issues to hash over, around our weekly virtual campfire, do join us for our Unleashed Conversation touching on these points that will elaborated upon in this weekend’s The World This Week, available free to all ….
Kamala Harris’s running mate was the lede of any number of the world’s leading newspapers….
…so what does this mean for America’s standing in the world?
Israel’s still holding its breath for a reprisal from Iran…or Hezbollah. Though still, White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby said, "We are as close as we think we have ever been" to securing an Israel-Hamas hostage release/cease-fire deal….
….while as the Israeli daily Haaretz reported “Israeli Finance Minister Smotrich remarked it would be ‘right and moral’ to starve 2 million Gazans ‘to death’ until all Israeli hostages are released.”
Chaos on markets around the world…the causes and what to do about it all?
Where do we stand along the diverging paths] toward democracy or autocracy in Venezuela?
A deal over 2 fishermen may mean Taiwan and mainland China are ready to restart talks?
And so much more!
All this kicks off at:
6 PM in Paris, western Europe, parts of eastern Africa
Noon in New York and Washington, portions of South America
9 AM in California and the West Coast, central and western South America
9:30 PM in India
Midnight in Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore

It was a great run for the United States, and a big waves to all the athletes who participated. The amount of training it takes to even qualify for the Olympics makes it an honor to be included. A huge shout out to France for their amazing hosting of these events. The tour of the country for various events was spectacular.
